Mechanical keyboard sizes are confusing for newcomers. This guide breaks down the four most common layouts and matches each to play styles and desk configurations.
Full size (100%)
Full-size keyboards include the number pad, function row, and navigation cluster. They're ideal for productivity users who enter numbers frequently, but they eat desk space and push your mouse to the right edge. Most gaming setups skip them.
TKL (87 keys)
Tenkeyless keyboards drop the number pad but keep function row, arrows, and nav cluster. The NovaKeys TKL Pro is our flagship TKL — it's the sweet spot for players who want full navigation keys without sacrificing mouse room.
75%
75% keyboards compress the function row directly above the number row and drop the nav cluster. The NovaKeys 75 Motion is our 75% option, with a magnetic rotary knob for volume or custom macros. Great for creators who want function keys in a smaller footprint.
60%
60% keyboards drop the function row and arrows entirely, accessing them through layers. The NightOps 60 is our 60% option. It maximizes mouse room for low-sensitivity FPS players, but requires learning layer shortcuts.
If you're unsure, start with TKL. It's the most flexible layout — you get arrows, function keys, and full mouse room. Move to 60% only if you're a competitive FPS player who needs the extra mouse space, or to 75% if you want a knob and a slightly smaller footprint than TKL.
